Anna's First Day of School!

Anna started school today!

She is in what is called "Baby Class" - it is the first class the children attend.  She will be in this class for two years because of her age; she is two. The class meets from 9:00 - 12:00 each day.  There are currently 6 students in the class, 3 girls and 3 boys.  The three girls are the triplets, Anna and her two sisters, Paris and Evelyn (the sisters were not there today).  The three boys are two residents, Majid and Godfrey and then a day student, David.  The ages range from 2 years old to 4 years old.  Miss Maribu, their teacher has a lot of work!

On Sunday, I tried to take a photo of Anna in her uniform hold a sign saying "Baby Class."  The wind was blowing like crazy and Anna did not really want to be in a photo shoot!

At some point, you just have to admit defeat!

Luckily, the actual first day of school went much better!  She woke up in a great mood, ate breakfast and then we took a leisure walk over to the school.

A group of boys saw Anna and started calling her. When I told them to line up for a picture, she got in line too. She doesn't know she is so small.

All those cute boys!

She ran into several classrooms before I could catch her, everyone happy to see her.  Everyone knows her around here!  "Annn-nnnna, Annnn-nnnna, Annnn-nnnna"

Middle Class (4 Year Kindergarten)

When we came close to the classroom, I heard some serious screaming.  It was David one of the new students.  He did not want to be in class.  His mother died giving birth last month and he was screaming for her!  (He eventually calmed down and we think he will be okay at school.)  We are going to love on him and help him through this time.

Then, Majid and Godfrey arrived.  Majid walked in like he owned the place.  Anna and Majid are the seasoned veterans here.  They immediately started playing and jabbering.  The other two will need more time to warm up.

I left and went on a home visit with Brenda.  Heather went in and read a book to the class. She got these photos of them reading.

Anna and David.  We are getting uniforms for everyone, the tailor is still making them.

After it was done, Heather and I walked all four kids back to the cottages for lunch.  Majid was so tired, he was staggering.  Anna started saying, "Eat. Eat. EEEAAATTTT" (Sobbing as she spoke).  I fed her lunch and put her down for her nap.  First day done!
