“He wants to live here because it is a good place.”

One of our Village of Eden students has started coming to visit us each day.  He is all smiles and gives everyone a hug.  A few days ago, he came and looked at Brenda and said, “No home.”
Brenda had Beatrace come to translate.
“He wants to live here.”

I must admit, Brenda and I laughed.  But then we stopped laughing when we saw that he was heartbroken. [tug to the heart]
I told Beatrace to ask him why he wants to live with us.
“Because it is a good place.” [tug to the heart]
Well, you got me!
He left, heart broken, but came back the next day as if nothing had happened.  He came bright and early, ready for breakfast.
He just makes himself at home, like he belongs here.  He like to hang out with me while I am working.  Needless to say, I don’t get as much done with him around.
I told him I would take his picture.  He picked up the book I was reading to pose! [tug to the heart]
I gave him some markers and a coloring book, he wrote my name! [two tugs]

Smart kid.  I won’t be surprised if he doesn’t’ wind up being a resident.

A great blessing.

Dad came to visit for a few weeks!  I really loved having him here.  He was able to see everything that goes on at the Village of Eden.  He can understand things now!  It was great to see him connecting with the children and other missionaries.  He was overwhelmed when we went to pick up our two new residents.  He could not believe the amount of children that come to Esangalo.
He was a great help also.

He served as a wind block for the video team.

He preached at Moses’s church in Busia.

He built a dividing wall, two exam tables, 6 shelves and 5 pallets!    He worked hard! [Thanks Dad]

Fish Theif!

These pictures are from several weeks ago, but still want to share.

We have two tilapia ponds on the Village of Eden farm.  We have been noticing that our fish have been going missing.  At first we thought people were stealing them, but with a locked fence and razor wire around the pond, we decided that was not it (maybe).  Then, one day Brenda said that a huge animal like an alligator ran out of the pond and into the bushes!

A monitor lizard!
This picture was taken last year of a monitor lizard on the banks of the Nile River - not the lizard eating our fish!

That thing has been feasting on our fish!

So, we have started harvesting the fish so we can eat some before the lizard eats all of them. They are small, but delicious!  After we harvest all of them, we will "do something" about the lizard.

Here are some pictures from harvesting.

The net has floats on the top and weights on the bottom, but the men must drag the net along the bottom of the pond to gather the fish.

No way you could get me in that water!

Hard Work!

Small but delicious!
