Fish Theif!

These pictures are from several weeks ago, but still want to share.

We have two tilapia ponds on the Village of Eden farm.  We have been noticing that our fish have been going missing.  At first we thought people were stealing them, but with a locked fence and razor wire around the pond, we decided that was not it (maybe).  Then, one day Brenda said that a huge animal like an alligator ran out of the pond and into the bushes!

A monitor lizard!
This picture was taken last year of a monitor lizard on the banks of the Nile River - not the lizard eating our fish!

That thing has been feasting on our fish!

So, we have started harvesting the fish so we can eat some before the lizard eats all of them. They are small, but delicious!  After we harvest all of them, we will "do something" about the lizard.

Here are some pictures from harvesting.

The net has floats on the top and weights on the bottom, but the men must drag the net along the bottom of the pond to gather the fish.

No way you could get me in that water!

Hard Work!

Small but delicious!
